Jim’s Story

“I was born in Marysville, California, and lived in Lincoln, California, for the first 18 years of my life before college. I grew up with three brothers and a sister, all of whom live in Lincoln, Roseville, and Granite Bay. My wife and I have been residents of Granite Bay, CA. for over 30 years. If I wasn’t playing sports or going to school while growing up, I spent my time working in my parent’s restaurant or on my grandparent’s cattle ranch. I graduated high school with a number of potential scholarship opportunities but decided I wanted to enjoy college as an academic student and not pursue sports. After graduating with a degree in Business Administration, I co-founded a computer distribution business. Within a few years, my company was the number one distributor of products that I offered to businesses and I was fortunate enough to sell my ownership at a profit. Then I was approached by a brilliant Harvard Business School Graduate and founder of several successful technology companies to become a VP for his start-up company.

After four years I started my own technology company and teamed up with another brilliant partner who was a graduate of Stanford University. We worked very hard and eventually led our company to a successful public offering. I continued with the public company for a number of years until one day I decided I’d had enough bits, bytes, and software code to last two lifetimes and decided to start a new career. I changed gears and became a Mergers and Acquisitions Consultant helping business owners make the best decisions with their companies and their money. During this period I met my current partner and “another” brilliant man, Dan Ahmad, and have been business partners for over fifteen years. I acknowledge my business partners because of the balance, intelligence, friendship, advice, and wisdom they brought to my life and their contribution to my personal successes. I am proud of my accomplishments, which were all attained through a great deal of hard work, focus, and discipline…and as I have always taught my children – doing the right thing at all times regardless of the cost.

For over fifteen years I’ve been working side-by-side with my partner, Dan Ahmad, providing retirement, investment, and economic advice to clients throughout the United States. I’m grateful I have the opportunity to assist individuals and families in making positive decisions to enhance their retirement position. I believe this is my true calling in my business career. I have learned that my working passion is to help people solve their problems; I find great reward in helping people deal with their issues, needs, and uncertainty, and to gain a clear perspective of their financial position, so that they have a chance to attain their goals.

I am deeply committed and devoted to my family. I have done everything in my business life to try and provide them with happiness, joy, and security. I am very fortunate to have been married to my wife Tami since 1983. Tami is a beautiful woman, an intelligent person, my best friend, and one of the most devoted mothers in the world. Tami also has dedicated her career to helping people. She is an interpreter for the deaf and teaches fitness classes for seniors. For her faith, loyalty, and love, I am tremendously grateful. The only feeling that compares to the love I have for Tami is the love I have for my children—Cody, my son, Martine my daughter-in-law, their oldest daughter Colette, their youngest daughter Elise, Kyley, my beautiful daughter, and her husband Antonio. Cody graduated from college with a Finance Degree, and continued his higher education at Cornell University Johnson Graduate School of Management, obtained his Certified Financial Planning Degree (CFP), and works for one of the world’s largest consulting firms. Cody is very athletic and enjoys waterskiing, snowboarding, weight lifting, and surfing. Kyley has a degree in Communications and Psychology, has worked in the financial service industry, and currently is heading up a team at a fast-growing technology company. Kyley loves cooking, working out, and most importantly, shopping with her mother. I am blessed to have a wonderful family and to have led such a prosperous life. My varied business career provides me the opportunity to use my knowledge and experience to help clients make prudent financial decisions.”

Jim’s Business Philosophy

I have founded and successfully ran many businesses and helped lead one of the companies I co-founded to a public offering. I have always had a love and a knack for business. But in my professional life I have never enjoyed and have never felt so pleased as when I am able to help a retired couple or individual make decisions that dramatically enhance their retirement lifestyle. For more than fifteen years I’ve been working side-by-side with my partner, Dan Ahmad, providing retirement, investment and economic advice to individuals and families throughout the United States. I’m grateful I have the opportunity to assist our clients in making positive decisions to enhance their retirement position. I believe this is my true calling in my business career. I have learned that my working passion is to help people solve their problems; I find great reward in helping people deal with their issues, needs, and uncertainty, and to gain a clear perspective of their financial position, so that they have a chance to attain their goals. By listening and then educating, I believe we can provide tremendous benefits to retirees.

Dan and I have known each other and have been working together for over fiteen years. We are business partners but most of all, we are best friends. We feel extremely lucky to have the opportunity to work together as a Team, with the same level of integrity, honesty, and morals, without ego, all with the same goal of helping individuals and families maximize their financial success. We know many people in this world are not happy doing what they are doing every day, and are not happy with the people they work with, so we feel blessed to be in the position we are in. By combining our two personalities, skill sets, beliefs, and motivation, we can help individuals and families make sound financial decisions regarding their plans for retirement. We trust each other implicitly and know that each of us will do everything that needs to be done to provide effective solutions and service to our clients. We have seen so many people work so hard to save so much money while they were working so that they would have additional income during retirement. And we have seen the vast majority of these people not use their assets for income during retirement. We have met with retirees who have been retired for 5, 10, 15 years that have assets that have been left untouched the entire time. What is mind-boggling is the majority of these people could have really used the income from their assets to improve their lifestyle. They have continued to sacrifice during the entire time they have been retired. They could have enjoyed retirement at a significantly higher level. Well, we want to put an end to all of that nonsense. The thought of retirees not using their own money for what they want and need it for just makes us both extremely uncomfortable.”
